What Are Vortex Tubes and how do they work?
Vortex Tube / Tubes are mechanical devices that work on a standard compressed air supply. Air enters the vortex tube and gets physically divided into two parts - cold air at one end, and hot air at the other - this division is achieved without any moving parts. The temperature of the air coming out of the cold end of the Vortex Tube can be controlled by a flow regulating valve at the "hot" end. This valve controls the volume of the air flow and by regulating this valve, you govern the "cold fraction" which is the percentage of total input compressed air that exits the cold end of the vortex tubes. Inside the vortex tube is the interchangeable "device" which can alter the air used in the vortex tube, and controls the temperature ranges you wish to have at the cold and hot ends. There are several ranges of devices for compressed air capacity. There are also two basic types of devices - one to produce the extreme cold temperatures (maximum cold temperature out called the C device) and one type to produce the maximum amount of cooling (maximum refrigeration called the H device).
Compressed air, typically at 80-to 100 PSlG enters the vortex tube from the side at a tangent and enters through the device into the tube, causing the air to swirl. This air stream swirls toward the hot end where some leaves the tube via the control valve. The remaining, swirling air travels back up the center of the vortex tube. The inner spinning stream gives off heat energy to the outer stream (which leaves the tube at the hot end as hot air) and exits the vortex tube at the cold end as cooled air.
Nex Flow™ Vortex Tube Are Best Because.....
Nex Flow™ Frigid-X™ Vortex Tube / Tubes are constructed of stainless steel and with internals and adjustment screw made of brass. The O-Rings are made of VITON to allow use in the widest range of environments. Competitors use plastic devices and standard buna N O-rings and charge extra for brass and Viton. The unique design and quality of materials used in Nex Flow™ Frigid-X™ Vortex Tube will deliver years of maintenance-free operation.
